By installing the PKS-THERMPIPE® system instead of the standard sewer pipe, it becomes possible to utilize the heat of wastewater and economically heat or cool both residential and commercial buildings. The circuit of the heat exchanger, which is filled with a solution of propylene glycol, is located outside the pipe, the inner surface is smooth and does not create obstacles to the duct.
The tightness of the sewer pipes and the heat exchanger circuit is guaranteed by various welding procedures (according to DVS rules). PKS-THERMPIPE® is made of polyethylene (PE 100), which is also used for water and gas supply (drinking water - 16 bar and gas - 10 bar). PKS-THERMPIPE® is manufactured in accordance with DIN 16961. The heat exchanger circuit complies with DIN 8074/75 and DIN EN 12201-3 / DIN EN 1555-3. Glycol heat exchanger lines are combined into one system, which is equipped with the necessary shut-off and control valves and connected in a single unit with a heat pump. Diameters from DN 300 to DN 1800 mm are currently available.
Every day, the sewage network of our cities transports an extremely large amount of wastewater, which has almost unlimited energy potential, which can be used for cooling or heating buildings. The temperature of sewage is on average 15 ° C and the process of utilization of this heat is quite simple: after all, wastewater is always available where people live and work. In addition to wastewater energy, the same system can be used to extract thermal energy surrounding soil. The heat obtained from the soil and wastewater can be further used to operate the geothermal heat pump. Energy is obtained and used directly on site, without large losses associated with heat transportation. Primary energy savings can reach 50%. The advantages of such simultaneous use of two heat sources are obvious. In addition to the sewer pipe, wastewater also heats the surrounding soil: as a battery, it is always charged with wastewater energy. The PKS-THERMPIPE® system then uses this energy again, extracting heat from the surrounding soil that would otherwise simply be lost. Thanks to the additional extraction of thermal energy from the surrounding soil, the PKS-THERMPIPE® system is independent of daily fluctuations and insufficient wastewater volumes. This solution ensures a constant supply of energy.
